Top Ten Badges

Awarded when more than 10 crews compete in the qualifying races of an under-18 event, other than an event for novices, at the New Zealand Championships. Crews that compete in the "A" final are awarded a top 10 badge. If a "B" Final is rowed then the remaining badges are allocated there. See Regulation 18.2

In 2014 the colour of top Ten badges was changed from black and silver. A 5-year colour cycle (blue, green, purple, red, black) began. There was no Maadi in 2020 and no badges, so the green badges were awarded in 2021.

LIST - C Colours & Abbreviations

Current approved colours can be found here.

Important: direction from the Schools Committee should be sought before altering or choosing colours. There have been instances where schools ordered new rowing strips without first getting them approved and were subsequently unable to use those strips at regattas because the new strip could not be approved.

LIST - D Championship Regatta Programme, 2021+

This programme lists the sequence of events to be rowed at all NZSSRA Championships regattas: North Island and South Island Championships and Maadi (New Zealand Championships). This programme came into effect after the 2021 AGM and sees the U17 Pairs added.

For Maadi regattas it is normal practice split finals over two days after the U18 Fours (event 26). At other Championships (and during earlier rounds of racing at Maadi) the programme runs straight through. However, the volume of entries, climatic conditions and number of lanes available may require this practice to be varied at a Championships. Furthermore, at regattas with repechages, quarter-finals and semi-finals the volume of entries can result in gaps in the programme during these earlier stages of progression. Any pupil entered into more than one event needs to be aware of these possible variations and cannot be assured of being able to compete in multiple events.

In the case of a shortened regatta the racing of the under-18 boys and girls Fours and Eights, shall have priority over other events. Should the time be limited "B" and other small finals shall abandoned. Fours and Eights races in other age groups will then have priority over other events. [Regulation 13.4]
