Hi everyone,
Welcome to the last rowing newsletter for the 2022-23 season. It's time to take a breath and recover from an amazing rowing season.

Thank you to all of the athletes, coaches, parents, family, friends and volunteers who contributed to making the 2022-23 season run so smoothly.

Now the admin starts to get things underway for next season.

This newsletter has all of the info to get you started and I encourage you to keep an eye out for the mid winter newsletter in late June.

Meanwhile, if you have any questions, please reach out. [email protected]

Emerging school AON rowing scholarship

Aon NZ and Rowing NZ are investing in an emerging school rowing scholarship to help a school that has a rowing programme in its infancy.

The school could be in its first season of having a rowing programme in place, their programme could have been re-established or maybe it's a school that has struggled to get the numbers simply because of its size and location.

The school will need to demonstrate their desire to develop and grow their programme as part of the application process for this scholarship. Up for grabs is $5,000 cash for a school to put towards costs that relate to their rowing programme: travel expenses (to and from regattas), uniform costs, coaching courses etc.

Eligibility:

  • Schools eligible must have less than 10 rowers currently in their programme.
  • They must have a vision for their rowing program /plans to develop in the future.
  • They must demonstrate a valid need for the financial support.

CLOSING DATE: Applications close Friday June 30, 2023. Please apply HERE.

* Terms and Conditions: The winning school will be selected from all eligible applications and will be notified and announced prior to 31 July 2023. The scholarship payment will be for the 2023-2024 season.

Rowing New Zealand Database

If you are changing your key person this winter, please let me know via email so any changes can be actioned in the Rowing NZ Database. It is important that all key people know how to register and license their rowers and step by step user guides can be found HERE.

I encourage you to check out the Schools Directory page on the Rowing NZ website and also let me know if you would like to add a bio about your rowing programme or any information such as websites etc for prospective rowers out there.

Maadi Logo

For the 2024 Aon Maadi Regatta onwards, we would like schools to use the official logo below as the word "Maadi" is a copyrighted trademarked term and shouldn't be used in isolation.

Uniforms should refrain from using the word "Maadi" and rather use the full logo. We have the versions below available in different formats.

The logo should appear separate from the school name/squad name/crew name and any associated sponsors/supporters names or logos.

The logo can not be used for commercial purposes or for purposes outside of uniform design, banner design or promoting the regatta to your school community.

Any banners produced by the school for the regatta should use the official logo as a guide if the logo is being included.

Any questions on this, can be directed to [email protected]

The logo files can be downloaded HERE.

Rowsuit Colours

Tired of your current design and are looking to change your school rowsuit this winter? Please note, you must apply for new colours before placing an order.

There have been instances where schools ordered new rowing strips without first getting them approved and were subsequently unable to use those strips at regattas.

There were a number of schools who had unapproved colours this season and we will be following up on this over the winter.

Please check your approved colours HERE

Trophies

Please engrave the trophies your school received from the 2022-23 season as soon as possible.

We had delays at all of the regattas this season on trophy return as schools had forgotten to engrave them so were doing it at the last minute.

As a consequence, some recipients missed out having them presented which is very unfortunate.
