U17 Pair Event NISS and SISS Regattas

The Schools Committee received a request from Karapiro Rowing to include an exhibition event of the U17 Pair. This was after the members had some discussion about the event at last year's AGM. The Schools Committee initially declined this request due to a number of reasons, including the pressure being placed on regattas to get through events, the number of events rowers are already being entered into, logistical issues such as boat park and scheduling, as well as the possible future direction the school regattas might take. However, Karapiro Rowing appealed the decision and the Schools Committee decided to allow the event at the 2020 North and South Island Secondary Schools only, and only if it meant the student was not surpassing the entry recommendation of a maximum 3 events.

To feature in 2020 this event is now open for entry at NISS and SISS regattas and is placed at Event 38E and 39E.

Reminder regarding the number of entries per student

The Schools Committee strongly recommends students should only be entered into 2-3 events (the occasional student undertaking 3 events). Should students be entered in more than the recommended maximum of 3 entries per student, Principals will be required to sign off the entry and could be contacted directly by the Schools Committee to discuss the school's entry patterns above the recommendation.

NZSSRA 2020 AGM

The NZSSRA 2020 AGM will take place on Sunday 29th March after the safety briefing of the Aon Maadi Cup, at the Twizel Events Centre. As per the 4-yearly cycle this AGM will review the Membership Fee.

Balance is Better Regional Forums

Sport NZ, with support from the RSTs, will be hosting Balance is Better Regional Forums across New Zealand to align and leverage off the campaign. The purpose of these events is to raise awareness of the Balance is Better philosophy and discuss the changes we're supporting our partners in leading.

This will be a great opportunity for regional and local leaders involved in delivering youth sport and physical activity to further understand the importance of this work. Please contact [email protected] with any questions.
