NZSSRA SGM Weight ClassificationThe matter of lightweight rowing at the junior level was considered by member Schools through a Special General Meeting. The Schools Committee proposed that the Association cease classifying rowers by weight due to health and well-being issues within our sport at the junior level. We are disappointed to announce that this remit did not pass but we respect the decision of the School Principals (67 for/35 against/2 abstentions = 65.7% is less than the required 75% majority of votes cast) and therefore weight-classification will continue. A second remit was proposed by a member school that classification by weight should be restricted to rowers over 15 years (i.e. U17 and U18 only). This was supported by member schools (77 for/16 against/6 abstentions = 82.7% is greater than 75% majority of votes cast). Therefore no rower who is under the age of 16 years on 1st of January in the Season in which the competition is held shall be eligible to be classified by weight. 2017 Aon Maadi Cup WeekThe 2017 programme is the same as the previous year.
This schedule is subject to change particularly due to weather issues NZSSRA 2017 AGM 26 March 2017, CambridgeThe NZSSRA 2017 AGM will take place on Sunday 26th March after the safety briefing of the Aon Maadi Cup, in Cambridge. Rowing NZ will keep you informed as much as possible regarding this area. School Colours updating your rowsuitsSchools are required to compete in approved colours so if you are updating your rowsuit stock please make sure the colours you have are the ones registered against your school name. Check out www.schoolrowing.org.nz for a list of school colours. If your school is new or would like to change its colours you will also need to contact Sonya at [email protected] and get your new colours approved (this is a quick and easy process and can save you a lot of trouble and dollars should your colours conflict!). Remember all colours need to be unique to the school (or a boys/girls school pairing) and distinctive from other approved school colours (and where practicable the club colours approved by the NZRA). Updating your Contact DetailsIf your school has had changes in your sports coordinators or teachers in charge of rowing please email these new details to Sonya so we can provide your school with all the relevant information for the coming season. Any coaches who would also like to receive these updates please also send your details. |
